Here you may find websites and links to useful infomartion about Forex :
95% Holy Grail:
A colourful name if ever there was one, and conjured up by Walesbulls. I guess because it was pretty accurate.
A relatively simple system, essentially based around the Inside Bar set-up, a stochastic oscillator and / or Fibonacci levels. You look for an inside bar to form first, then you need one of the following: a Fibonacci retracement, divergence or convergence, double top or double bottom, level of support or resistance, or a chart showing price momentum. Then trade when the Inside Bar is breached. That's all there is to it really.
The system concentrates on the 5 and 15 minute charts - 15 minutes gives the general overview, whilst 5 minutes aids the entry point. It is possible to use a wider timescale though if you so desire, eg. for swing trading. There are two exit points, using either the stop-loss rule (stop-loss triggered), or 13 ema rule (crossover of the 13 period ema) - the latter allows you to stay in the trade a bit longer.

Braintrading (BT):
This is a trend following system costing £290 and is a whole trading sytem in itself so can be used as a stand alone. Some people use one or two other indicators such as ADX or CCI to help filter bad signals, but this is not essential.
It can be used on a range of time frames from 1 minute to daily.
Currently there are no successful clones of the system (as of 26.01.05), so if you want it you'll have to buy it. Relevant links:

Camarilla Levels:
These are price levels based upon the previous day’s high, low and close figures. Can be used on a variety of markets. They represent points at which the price may react, e.g. retrace / bounce / pull back. They are very similar to Pivots. See Pivot and Camarilla Levels further down, but also this link:

Chaos Theory:
Chaos Theory is from Bill Williams' book, New Trading Dimensions. The following 2 links should take you to Philip and Andy’s sites where you can download the book (no charts though I’m afraid):
http://www.cnotta.com
This technique uses an Alligator indicator, Accelerator Oscillator (AC), Awesome Oscillator (AO) and Fractals, all of which are available free on MetaTrader, plus there is a Profunity program for MetaTrader which sets it all up for you. I'm not sure if the Profitunity MetaTrader expert program is on the forum, but if you want it, drop me an e-mail and I'll send it to you.
The Alligator is essentially 3 moving averages, each offset by different time periods. AO AC are indicators of price momentum / acceleration. Fractals indicate a turning point in price, but you will aim to trade when the price level at a fractal has been breached. This method can be used in any time frame, although 15 minutes appears to be quite a reasonable compromise.
The following link is a very good summary of the technique and explains the basics (3rd page in, 7th post down by Andy (Aghent):

Charts - which Provider?:
Free:
Some of the following charts are web-based whilst others require files to be down-loaded to your pc. The former are ideal for those who trade from work and cannot download onto their pc's, or have problems with Firewalls. Also some are live, whilst others are delayed by anything up to 15 / 20 minutes. Hint: hitting the F5 button on your keyborad refreshes the chart. Somewhere on the forum

Charts - Uploading to the forum:
As the saying goes, a picture tells a thousand words, and this is particularly true with trading, so if you want to include a chart with your post on any thread this is how to do it:
Save a snapshot of your chart, upload it to a site which will store it, copy the URL of the chart at this site, go to Spreadtrade2Win and start typing your post, put your cursor where you want to insert your chart in the post, click on the Img button at the top of the screen, paste the URL, click Img again and then click submit.

Currency Pairings - which ones to start with?:
It's probably best to stick with the 'majors' such as GBP/USD, USD/Chf, USD/CAD, GBP/Chf and EUR/USD as these tend to have the greatest levels of volatility, therefore more opportunity to make your pips. Average daily ranges (the price movement between the high and low of the day) can be found on any of Rob's OHLC postings, but as a guide, these are the figures as of 28.01.05:
GBP / USD range is 163 pips (based upon the previous 242 trading days)
GBP / Chf range is 170 pips (based upon the previous 219 trading days)
USD / Chf range is 131 pips (based upon the previous 205 trading days)
USD / CAD range is 118 pips (based upon the previous 157 trading days)
EUR / USD range is 109 pips (based upon the previous 199 trading days)

Divergence (positive & negative):
Put simply, this is when the price on the chart is going up and your chosen indicator (e.g. stochastics) is going down (negative divergence). If the price is going down and the indicator is going up, this is positive divergence. Generally speaking, this signifies a possible change in market direction to mirror the indicator. Dow Jones Industrial Average Index:
One of the United States' main Indices, and is comprised of the 30 leading US companies. Opening hours are 14.30 - 21.00 GMT. Average Daily Range as of 25.01.05 is 95 points (based upon the previous 192 trading days). As a general rule, the best times to trade are the first hour and a half and the last hour and a half. Avoid the middle of the day.
Be wary of trading the first few minutes as the market is somewhat erratic as Market Makers are finding their feet and executing Market Orders placed prior to the opening bell.
Economic Calendars and News sites:
Full details of the forthcoming week's economic data releases, plus a few general news sites:
Economic Calendars
Throughout each week there will be a number of economic announcements made which will have a varying degree of influence upon the world's currency markets. It is essential that you are aware of when these are to be made - even if you use 100% technical analysis as opposed to fundamental analysis. The reason is simple - these announcements, particularly ones such as the US Non Farm Payroll (NFP), can move the markets a long way and instantly. Look at 6th August 2004 for an example - any currency paring will do.

Economic Data - trading the news:
Potentially can be very rewarding, HOWEVER, be aware that this is not for the faint-hearted, and newcomers (and many seasoned traders) should best avoid trying this - there are plenty of pips to be made elsewhere.
A common technique is a 'straddle trade' where market orders are placed either side of the price prior to the news release in the hope that when the price rises or falls sharply one of the orders is triggered thereby capturing the large moves.
Often the market moves so fast (can easily 'gap' up or down) that your orders are either not triggered at all, or triggered at a price a fair way from where you anticipated it to, or triggered when the market reverses, or in fact it is possible for both orders to be triggered as the price can spike prior to the main move.
If you wish to trade, probably the safest way is Bunnygirl's 'Mr Sheen' trade after the dust has settled and following an initial retracement:

Fibonacci Levels:
After the price moves up (or down) it often retraces (pulls back) a certain amount, commonly 38%, 50%, 62% and 79% of the original move. Fibonacci Levels mark where the price is likely to pull back to.
There are other Fibonacci levels called Extensions / Expansions and Projections, which essentially calculate how much further the price is going to move in the same direction as the initial move prior to a retracement, or how much further it will fall beyond a standard retracement. Relevant links:

FTSE:
Financial Times Stock Exchange, or FTSE for short, is the UK's Index of 100 leading shares. Opening times are 08.00 - 16.30 hrs. Average Daily Range as of 25.01.05 is 38 points (based upon the previous 82 trading days). Very slow moving, particulary in comparison the the Dow Jones.
FX-Wizard:
This is the latest book by Rob, and is built around FOREX trading, although the technique can be applied to other markets such as the Dow.
The basis of the technique is to use ADX and Trendsignal indicators in conjunction with 5 visual aids (3 exponential moving averages, Heikin-Ashi Mod and Camarilla / Pivot levels.).
In a nut shell, ADX needs to be above 20 and rising to confirm the current trend is strong (irrespective of whether the price is rising or falling), +DI and -DI need to have crossed and whichever is relevant to the trend direction (+DI = uptrend, -DI + downtrend) must be rising and above 20 themselves.
If +DI or -DI cross above 20 before ADX, there is a fair chance the trend is short-lived. If ADX crosses first / at the same as +DI or -DI then the move is likely to be stronger.
Cams and pivots are used for money management, i.e. entry and exits. Trensignal, Heikin-Ashi Mod and moving averages help confirm what is going on, but it is ADX which is the basis of the technique.
Where do I get Fx-wizard?
Fx-wizard can be downloaded from the following link or by emailing Rob and requesting the same link.
It is in pdf format and is zipped so you will need Adobe Reader and Winzip which are free from the respective software makers.
The book was written with MT3+ in mind but works just as well with MT4 as all of the indicators are available for that now.
The indicators that come with the book as well as the charting package are all MT3, which is not compatable with MT4.
Please check out this excellent FAQ section for queries about MT3/MT4 issues and how to upload indicators etc.
Most use MT4 and it is highly recommended.
The book can be found HERE
The indicators can be found HERE along with a version of Metatrader 3 if you don't already have one.
Pivot levels:
There have been some queries surrounding Pivot levels. Rob's are calculated from 5am to 5am to make them more up to date with the European market opening times. The 'Detail Daily Pivots' program which you copied to MetaTrader from the Moneymaker files are calculated from midnight to midnight. You can either use them as they are, or replace them with another file which matches Rob's pivots. This replacement file can be found at:
http://spreadtrade2win.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=702
There is also a program available which allows you to manually adjust them also if you so desire (MetaTrader 3 and 4):
http://spreadtrade2win.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=913
Trendsignal Alert freezing MetaTrader:
When the Trendsignal Alert beeps (MetaTrader 3), it is causing the screen to freeze, thereby requiring a re-boot. There are 2 options:
1. Silent
Remove the Trendsignal Alert program (with sound) and replace it with the silent version. This can be downloaded from here:
http://spreadtrade2win.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=773
2. With noise
If you want a beeping Trendsignal Alert then this is how you get it.
Carry out all of stage 1 as detailed above. Then create a MetaTrader Expert - this allows you to have a beeping, non-freezing Trendsignal Alert. Please note, that you do need to keep the non-beeping Trendsignal program as well. The reason for this is that the Expert only creates the noise, not the signal dots:

Indicators - a quick guide:
There are a wide range of indicators which can be incorporated into your trading methods. Some are leading (give 'advanced' warning of a change in trend), whilst others are lagging (tend to change shortly 'after the event'). Changing the indicator settings and using different time frames will increase / decrease their sensitivity to price movement.
Which ones you use will depend on your trading style, tollerance for the trade to move against you, whether you are scalping, day trading, swing trading, etc. These links will take you to a guide for some of the more popular indicators:

Logging on to the forum:
A frequent question is "why do I appear as a guest when I've logged in?"; The answer is, that when posting to the forum, it is sometimes necessary to log in twice. It's easy to see if you need to log in twice after the first attempt at logging in, when you'll either be logged in - in which case it will say Log out [your username], or it will say Log in, in which case you'll need to have another go.
Mechanical Discretion:
Mechanical Discretion (MD) is a trading methodology, put into book format by Jetheat, so if you have any questions I’d suggest you try him. He has set up a website forum just for MD which can be found via the link below, however please note that you will need to have read (i.e. bought) the book prior to being able to access / contribute to the forum.
It is designed to be used in conjunction with your own system, although he does include his own within the book. The basic idea is that it improves your own system by highlighting whether the trade you are planning to take has any aspects about which you need to be concerned, i.e. helps prevent you getting into trades you really ought not to.
The book can be used on any market (FOREX, Index, commodity, stocks, etc.), and is primarily suited for the 'intermediate trader' and not for complete novices or the very experienced. Having said that, the reviews on MoneyTec suggest any reader will benefit from book.
The book cost $10, and can be purchased from:
http://www.lentrica.co.uk/
Jetheat has developed a forum specifically for MD, but as mentioned, you’ll need to have purchased the book to gain access. Forum address:
http://www.createphpbb.com/phpbb/?mforum=jetheat
There is also a thread about the system at MoneyTec.com, so if you want to know what it’s all about have a look here first:

MetaTrader 3.83:
A free chart package which can be downloaded from the link indicated below. You may find that when trying to download initially (and then using subsequently) you can not do so. It is possible that if using a firewall such as Norton, then it may block it.
You can either disable your firewall (not recommended for obvious reasons), use a different / less aggressive firewall, or reconfigure your ports to allow the data to flow between MetaTrader's server and your pc. There are other solutions I'm sure, and I'm sure the 'techies' on the forum can advise. Relevant links:
Download from the following site:

Account re-activation:
MetaTrader is free, but you'll need to re-activate your account every 30 days. It's very straightforward, and the following video link shows you how:
http://spreadtrade2win.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=134
Alerts - how to set this up when a certain price level is reached:
So you don't have to stare at the screen all the time, MetaTrader has an audible warning system which alerts you when a certain price has been reached. This is how you set it up:
Creating a price alert:
Please note, this is NOT the Trendsignal price alert, but a general price alert.
Click the Terminal button (6th from left), at the bottom of the window which opens click on the Alerts tab, in that window right click Symbol, Create a New Alert, then select the currency pairing (symbol), in the Value field type the price at which you want MetaTrader to alert you. Event is the sound MetaTrader will make to alert you – click on the button with 3 dots […] and choose a sound. Timeout is how often the alert will sound once activated - select how often you want it to beep, make sure the Enable box is checked, the click OK.
Your Alert is set, and you can close the window at the bottom of the screen by clicking the x or the Terminal button.
Changing your Alert:
Use the Terminal button to open the Alert screen again, right click anywhere on the alert at the bottom of the screen, Modify, then make your changes, OK.
Cancelling an Alert:
Use the Terminal button to open the Alert screen again, double click anywhere on the alert at the bottom of the screen, Cancel.
http://spreadtrade2win.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=572
Data Feed:
MetaTrader sometimes has lapses in its data feed so you get missing data, but this does seem to vary depending on who your supplier is:
http://spreadtrade2win.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=516
If you want to change your data supplier then there are a number of suppliers to choose from. You need to be bear in mind though, that depending on who the supplier is, the times at the bottom of your charts may not be GMT times. STS charts are GMT + 2 hours, so the chart will say, for example, the current candle is forming at 15.00 hours when in fact it is really 13.00 hours GMT. The data is still live - all you need to do is make a mental adjustment. Admiral charts are GMT, so no mental adjustment is required.

Language problem?:
MetaTrader is Russian in origin I believe, and it is possible you may find yourself staring at a screen which which means nothing to you at all (unless of course you can read Russian!). The solution is straightforward - at the top of the screen is an option to choose either en or ru - click en and it changes to English. As things have been updated recently it may say russian / english instead, so just choose english.
